CHAMPAGNE SPECIAL
Johnny be good
e combo of top-notch hot dogs and grower
Champagne is no longer confined to Fitzrovia,
as Bubbledogs goes mobile for summer. With
a vintage van in mustard yellow (what else?)
and christened Johnny (thanks to its origins in
Condom, France), Bubbledogs will be parking
up at events across the UK, including Jimmy's
Harvest Festival of Sausages & Beer (July)
and e Big Feastival (August). Johnny is also
available for hire, should your soirée require
something more upmarket than the burnt
bangers you doled out last year. bubbledogs.co.uk
Black & white
Those wanting to try a blanc
de noirs - a white Champagne
made out of red grapes - should
look to Champagne Palmer &
Co, which has just launched a
great non-vintage example.
Made from an equal blend
of Pinot Noir and Pinot
Meunier, it's a generous
wine with ripe stone-fruit
aromas of peach and
apricot, plus good weight
and complexity. It's also
available in a 15-litre
nebuchadnezzar if you
really want to party…

A TASTE FOR HEIGHTS
Boutique airline La Compagnie has gone
one better than oering a sneaky glass
of Champagne in the departure lounge,
launching tastings in association with
Champagne house Piper-Heidsieck
on board its business-class-only flights
to New York. Four cuvées have been
paired with the menu, and there's even
a hashtag, #piperingoodcompagnie, for
an in-flight bubble brag on social media.
TRIPLE TIPPLES
Fancy prestige fizz but unsure what's worth investing
in? Worry no more: Champagne Deutz has released
a pack of three half-bottles of its prestige lines.
e 2008 vintage is not yet available
in 75cl, but as half-bottles age quicker,
you can taste now and decide what to
spend on later. Amour Blanc de Blancs
is youthful but structured with great
potential, Cuvée William Deutz has
depth, concentration and a sherbety
liveliness, and Amour de Deutz Rosé
has a delicate Pinot Noir fruit character.

FLORAL FIZZ
Perrier-Jouët is popping up in King's Cross this summer, with The Waterside
Garden at Rotunda Bar and Restaurant. The canal-side terrace has been
transformed into a floral retreat, with a scented archway and planters of ivy,
white roses, wild strawberries and Perrier-Jouët's signature Japanese anemones.
Open every day from 12 noon until 10pm, there's a deckchair lounge, as well
as alfresco dining from a menu of seasonal dishes designed to complement
Champagne, while drinks include the Perrier-Jouët Champagne Negroni.
