Peru's second coming
London's appetite for Peruvian food continues
with a new pack of restaurants slated for
summer debuts. At the edge of Chinatown,
Butifarra promises a taste of the country's
marketplaces with a menu of casual bites
including taku taku (a rice and bean pancake)
and alfajor cookies made with dulce de leche.
Not far away on Great Windmill Street in
Soho, Ceviche founder Martin Morales is
opening his fourth London restaurant, Casita
Andina, (pictured) on 28 July (Peruvian
Independence Day), with traditional Andes
cuisine, a Pisco bar and a ceviche counter.
Meanwhile, the Pachamama team will be
opening Chelsea's Chicama, focusing on
Peru's coastal cuisine. South American
seafood: guaranteed to make you feel all
summery. The Lima Floral kitchen in Covent
Garden has been busy, too, introducing a new
lunch menu, also inspired by Peru's market
culture. The 'Yunza Selection Box' is nine small
plates presented on a wooden shelving unit -
