Your guide to what's happening in the world of wine WORDS JULIE SHEPPARD
Summer in the Cité
Taking three years and £64 million to complete, La
Cité du Vin opened its doors to the public on 1 June.
Set on the banks of the Garonne river in Bordeaux,
the stunning building was designed by Parisian
architects XTU in collaboration with British museum
design experts Casson Mann.
Interactive attractions at the new visitor centre
include an immersive tour of the world's wine regions,
a tactile Table of Terroirs activity station and the 5
Senses tasting workshop. There are even activities for
kids looking at the science of wine and grape-growing.
Entry to the building is free, with tours costing £16
(including a glass of wine) and individual workshops
from £16. laciteduvin.com
