RAYMOND WEIL

AND GIBSON

In one of the more unexpected

horological tie-ups of the year,

Raymond Weil has announced a

partnership with US electric guitar

manufacturer Gibson, which 'plays'

on RW's long-standing association

with the world of music. The result

of the deal is a special edition of the

Nabucco chronograph featuring

details inspired by the Gibson SG

Standard, famously played by

legendary rock guitarist Eric Clapton.

The 46mm, steel and titanium watch

has a grooved dial symbolising the

guitar's strings and carries the Gibson

logo and a miniature SG headstock

inlay at 12 o'clock. Just 200 will be

made. £3,695; raymond-weil.com

JAEGERŒLECOULTRE

AND CASA FAGLIANO

Jaeger-LeCoultre's ™ ip-case Reverso

was originally launched in 1931

following a call from British army

o€ cers based in India for a timepiece

that wouldn't get smashed when

they were battling it out on the,

er, polo eld. Almost 85 years and

numerous variations later, the

Reverso remains a cult classic, and

one of the nicest interpretations of

the design is the Grand Reverso

Ultra Thin in pink gold with chocolate

brown dial. In recognition of the

origins of the watch, this special

edition has a hand-stitched strap

courtesy of Argentinian polo boot

maker Casa Fagliano. But if you want

one, you'll have to giddy up - there

is just one left in stock at JLC's snazzy

new London boutique. £ 1 2 , 9 0 0 ;

TAG HEUER AND MCLAREN

If you've ever wondered where

the 'TAG' bit of TAG Heuer came

from, you'll need to look back three

decades to the purchase of Heuer

by engineering rm Techniques

Avant Garde, when Mansour Ojjeh,

the son of founder Akram Ojjeh,

was a McLaren shareholder. The TAG

Heuer/McLaren partnership has been

going strong ever since, making it

the longest collaboration between a

Formula 1 constructor and a watch

brand. This new F1 watch marks the

30th anniversary and is available

in a numbered edition of 5,000

examples. £1,200; tagheuer.com

BREMONT

AND BOEING

Pilot watch maker

Bremont has

teamed up with

Boeing to take

advantage

of its

links with the

Advanced Material

Research Centre

in She€ eld (which

develops materials for

aerospace use) to enhance

the design and build of its

watches. Two of the latest

pieces to bene t are the Boeing

Model 1 Ti-GMT and the Boeing

Model 247 Ti-GMT. The rst is a

chronometer with a secondary GMT

hand added to give a second time

zone reading, while the latter adds

a chronograph function. Both have

aviation-grade titanium cases and

winding rotors inspired by the fans

of a jet engine. £4,295 and £4,995
