Speedmaster, the £8,205 'Black Black'
version, which features a polished
black ceramic case, a matt black
ceramic dial, blackened indexes and
a black lacquered bezel - possibly
the stealthiest watch in the universe.
For its part, Panerai has
opted to make one of the largest
watches in the universe with the
re-introduction of its 52mm Mare
Nostrum chronograph of the
1940s. It has been kept 'actual
size', but the new version is lighter
than the original thanks to being
made from titanium. Its price tag,
however, is a hefty £29,700. Bearing
an even heftier price tag is the
limited-edition RM19-02 Tourbillon
Fleur from Richard Mille which
features an exquisite, hand-painted
magnolia £ ower. Only 30 examples
will be made at £782,000 apiece
(see p.154 for more).
If you want a colourful watch
at a much smaller price, consider
Seven Friday's new P1B/1, which
o ers quirky looks, an interesting
dial design and a choice of bright
colours (including blue, orange and
green) for a mere £775. Also large is
the latest 50mm o ering from Italian
brand U-Boat. The Hera combines
rugged looks with luxury, thanks to
an 18 carat gold case set with black
diamonds and a vintage leather
strap studded with rubies.
If you prefer something a little
more understated, Vacheron
Constantin's Harmony chronographs
should appeal - costing £53,450,
they're inspired by the brand's rst
cushion-cased watches of the 1920s
and interpret the original's classic
feel in a new, 42mm by 52mm size.
Which leaves just enough room to
round o with 'Z' for Zenith, which
showed that less can be more with
its delectable £5,600 Elite 6150
dress watch powered by a beautiful
self-winding movement that will run
autonomously for ve whole days.
