We love these clever temperature-sensitive
labels from Australia's Wakefield Wines.
First, use the colour-coded guide to
find the right serving temperature for
whatever grape variety you're drinking
- 8°C for Riesling or 16°C for Merlot,
for example. en, check the colour of
the patch on the label to make sure your
bottle is warm or cool enough. You'll
never have a Goldilocks moment again...

Which wine on your
list must we try?
"With more than 300 lines on our shelves, that's a
tough one! But I must give credit where credit's due
to the Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara County Pinot
Noir 2013, USA. Pinot coming out of California
these days is underrated, and reasonably aordable."
What are your favourite wines for spring?
"Seresin Reserve Chardonnay 2013 from
Marlborough, New Zealand, Granbazan Albariño
Ambar 2014 from Rías Baixas, Spain, and Nielson
by Byron Pinot Noir 2013, USA."
What's your dream food-and-wine match?
"Premier cru Chablis and seared halibut in a beurre
blanc sauce with buttered green beans, served on
the patio in the summer."
Which wine region should we look out for?

THE £8,000 SHERRY
Yes, you read that right. Bodegas Barbadillo has launched a
very rare, limited-edition amontillado sherry with an eyewatering
price tag. Versos 1891 dates back to the late 19th
century; the original cask was given as a christening present
to Manuel Barbadillo in 1891 and kept as part of the family's
private collection. Sold in a crystal decanter, finished with
platinum and gold leaf, just 100 bottles have been released.
Squaremeal was among the lucky few to taste Versos 1891 at
its launch. It has astounding intensity, with pungent aromas
(as if an exotic treasure chest has been opened), layers of
depth and complexity, plus a finish that goes on and on.
