Kurobuta
312 King's Road, SW3 5UH
020 3551 2809 Price £50
This is Kurobuta's third incarnation - and its best yet. The zzy,
impromptu energy from the original King's Road pop-up has
survived the move over the road to premises that are twice
as big but have lost none of the original's spirit. In essence,
Kurobuta has taken the Japanese fusion template of Nobu
and Zuma and turned the volume up to 11 - and we're talking
about the acoustics as well as the food.
It's a let-your-hair-down kind of place, where 90s indie rock
blares from the speakers and laid-back Aussie sta take their
lead from Perth-born chef/owner Scott Hallsworth (ex-Nobu
Park Lane). Meanwhile, big, bold, in-your-face avours swoop
and swing on a sweet and salty pendulum, heady with chilli
spicing and umami savouriness. The result is the kind of
food you only want to share because you're keen for your
companions to taste how good it is.
