CHUAN SPA AT THE LANGHAM
Perfect for: Shoppers ready to drop
The lowdown: Just a short stroll from bustling Oxford Circus,
Europe's rst Chuan Spa (the group has nine spas worldwide,
from Guangzhou to Chicago) oers a welcome sanctuary. Chuan
Spa has a philosophy steeped in the values of traditional Chinese
medicine, and the spa interior, spread over three oors, is both
opulent and intimate, from the chandelier-lit basement pool to
the black slate-walled thermal area, which includes a vitality pool,
Himalayan rock-salt sauna (milder than a traditional sauna) and
heated ceramic loungers. Upstairs, there are six treatment rooms
and a post-treatment relaxation zone, where you are served
Chinese tea and fresh fruit.
Tried and tested treatment: The spa has recently introduced
a range of cutting-edge, non-invasive beauty treatments from
luxury Spanish beauty brand Germaine de Capuccini. I tried the
Ecy 3 Silhouette Remodelling, which is as hi-tech (though not
as scary) as it sounds. This advanced shaping treatment uses
radio frequency to target 'problem areas' - such as cellulite and
stretch marks - aiding the elimination of retained liquids, toxins
and waste products and improving blood ow. Once I'd got used
to the noise (like an industrial vacuum-cleaner) and the push-pull
motion of the applicator, it was surprisingly relaxing. A course
of treatments is recommended but I noticed an improvement
in appearance and rmness after just one session.
Prices: The Silhouette Remodelling costs from £180 (60 minutes,
o-peak). Other 60-minute treatments start at £90.
