Mr Vine for wine
Buying wine suddenly got a whole lot easier, thanks to
Mr Vine, a free iPhone app available from 24 April, that
recommends wines from a network of independent
merchants based on personal preferences. You can
buy, rate and share wines with other users, as well
as get advice on food matching and tips. There are
currently more than 1,000 wines available to buy,
with plans to increase this number and make the
app available for Android users in the summer.

Peter Richards MW and Susie Barrie MW have teamed up with Mercure Hotels
to launch Flavours from the Cellar. This special selection of three wines will be
available in all 72 Mercure hotels around the UK, and will change seasonally.
Each wine has an interesting story behind it and will be something unusual
that you probably won't have tried before. The wines picked for spring/summer
include the seductively named 'I Want You' from Boer ¨ Brit, a silky South African
blend of Pinotage and Petit Verdot made by two best friends, one South African
and one British, whose ancestors fought each other in the Boer War.
All wines are available by the glass or bottle, with prices ranging from £22
to £24.50 for a bottle. For further details or to book a stay visit mercure.com
