bring laidback Japanese to Hackney

hipsters, while ramen king Bone

Daddies will open in Old Street in early

2016 and works are well under way

for Nobu in Shoreditch. Perhaps most

hotly anticipated of all is Jason Atherton's

teppanyaki and sashimi restaurant Sosharu,

headed for Clerkenwell next March.

Never one to rest on his laurels,

executive chef Vivek Singh has

unveiled his fab new take on the

grade II-listed Old Westminster

Library gastrodome (above).

The colourful display of books

has been extended across

the whole dining room and

various trolleys bearing sharing

dishes and gin add theatre and

culinary fireworks to the whole

experience. It's a stunning

exercise in subtle evolution.

Not to be outshone, the Butlers

Wharf restaurant has undergone

a refurbishment to bring it bang

up to date, with chef Frederick

Forster (Le Gavroche, Le Manoir

and the Ritz) at the helm.

fine-dining restaurant is actually

moving premises (albeit just

down the road, as it is staying in

its Notting Hill locale).

As soon as it falls out of fashion

this Savile Row Italian gets a

makeover. This time will see

Francesco Mazzei (ex-L'Anima) in

charge, so we're expecting more

than a little polish…

Mikael Jonsson's Michelinstarred

restaurant has had a refit;

radically, he's reduced the covers

from 45 to 18, and completely

disposed of the menu. It's a bold

move from a confident operator.
